Note

David TOLER was born about 1763 in Virginia or possibly in England. We know that his wife's name was Susanna. They were married about 1783 probably in Virginia. David is living in the 1850 Logan County Census age 87. We believe that David Toler died in Logan County, Virginia before 1860.

Virginia Gazette and General Advertiser (Davis),?Richmond, June 6, 1792.
Thirty Dollars Reward. RAN AWAY, a negro man who calls himself RICHARD NEWMAN. He is a tall fellow, between forty and fifty years of age, a shoemaker by trade, is fond of liquor, and after drinking is very talkative; he is a sensible, artful fellow, and I expect will procure himself a pass, and endeavour to pass as a freeman. He formerly belonged to the estate of General Nelson, from whom he was purchased by a Mr. Anderson, of Hanover county, and sold by him to Mr. David Toller, of the same county. The subscriber will give the above reward to any person for apprehending and delivering said fellow to him in the aforesaid county, if taken out of it, otherwise, ten dollars. JAMES LEWIS. June 4, 1792.
