Joseph Toler / Towler served in the Revolutionary War, and is accepted by both the DAR and SAR as a Patriot.

Oct 1782 Joseph was part of "Captian Benjamin Biggs Company of the 7th Virginia Rgt., Commanded by Col. John Gibson.

Later on Nov 4th they were at Fort Pitt 04 Nov 1782 (where the Oct Muster was taken

In a manuscript volume on file in the Virginia State Library referred to as "Aud. Acct. 18, page 683" is the following entry:

"Richmond Virginia 19 May 1784 Sundry Accounts Dr. to J. A. T. Cond Militia Warrant to Joseph Toler for his services in the militia of this State. oe12: 13s: 4d."
